Senior Sales Engineer

Position Purpose:

Provide needed sales engineering support in areas of Project Bids, Customer Needs and Channel Management along with continuing support of ISS products to existing clientele.

Essential Position Functions:

  • In support of sales bids, define, document and provide for the bid project optimal system configuration responsive to the requirements, stated, implied or negotiated, maximizing ISS revenue and margin while minimizing product delivery and performance risk and update these as needed during the project life cycle including bidding, negotiation, validation and demonstration stages.
  • Design and develop training programs for delivery to consultants, engineers, sales force and our sales channel
  • Work with sales force to introduce ISS product specifications into client requirements and obtain State approval through successful site tests
  • In support of sales, manage successful training of the customer in proper and optimal usage of the configuration prior to the equipment installation; ensure proper installation, operation and performance of the proposed system configuration.
  • Support the Regional Sales Managers in ensuring timely shipment of components for the correct configuration, including correct supplier(s) of third party goods
  • Document lessons learned and suggestions / recommendations for the future in order to leverage the project configuration in future bids.
  • In consultation with the channels, manage delivery of needed support, updates and documentation on various systems supplied by ISS.
  • Trouble-shoot installation and commissioning of projects as required to ensure a successful conclusion where required
  • Evaluate needs and requests from the marketplace for new products and enhancements or modifications to existing products to determine feasibility. Report information and recommendations to appropriate areas within the company. Provide feedback to ISS as to customer trends, opportunities and issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent from an accredited college/university
  • 5+ years experience with sales/service support of a technical nature.
  • Technical and/or sales experience in the traffic industry is beneficial
  • Excellent knowledge of operating systems, networks, SQL/databases, general office programs, a variety of communication formats including; serial data (RS232/RS485), TCP/IP, Radio Frequency, modems (fiber, POTS, ASDL, GPRS, etc.). Ability to understand engineering drawings.
  • Superior written, verbal communication and technical sales presentation skills
  • Must be fluent in English

Additional:

  • Support Customer Services Manager and/or COO in interfacing with Engineering on product development matters
  • Support VP of Sales in managing tradeshows, in developing sales promotion documents, in the development of customer communication material and other sales support duties as assigned
  • Manage a variety of assigned documentation review, departmental process improvement and other internal projects working to successfully complete on-time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor in support of departmental goals.

Other:

  • Position requires the ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Successful candidate must hold a valid passport and be able to travel freely. Primary travel will be within North America but should expect any other International destination.
  • Must hold a valid drivers license
  • Position requires outside field work and at heights of approximately 10 meters
